As part of Great British Spring Clean starting this weekend, a mass litter pick will be held in Bridport this weekend.

Litter Free Champions, volunteers and the West Bay Beach Clean group will be joined by paddleboarders on rivers for a whole town litter sweep for the Street to Sea event.

To become a Litter Free Champion, email [email protected] and find more about the event here.

This year, Litter Free Dorset is also supporting Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean campaign from May 28 to June 13, which is calling on everyone to join in its #MillionMileMission to clean up the country and show some love for the special places that have helped us during lockdown.

The Great British Spring Clean brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep, to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.

Litter Free Dorset is supporting community groups to help clean up the countryside. If you are interested in joining a group near you, head to the Litter Free Dorset website for details.

Dorset Council Waste Services is also supporting the campaign by providing guidance and equipment for litter-picks. To get in touch with the waste services team to let them know details of your clean, organise loaning of equipment and waste removal, email [email protected] or find out more here.

Sophie Colley, from Litter Free Dorset, said: "The Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean is a great event to get involved with - you can pick a day and a time that suits you, get outside for some fresh air and litter pick your local area. Whether it's a two minute litter pick or a three hour clean, every piece picked helps.

"Don't forget to pledge your support to the #MillionMileMission by heading to the Keep Britain Tidy website."
