Bridport Ladies Circle raised almost £2,000 at their second annual children's fun run on Sunday.

The fun run and fun day was held at Bridport Rugby Club and saw 115 children of varying ages running, walking, skipping and dancing across the finish line to receive a medal and cheers from friends, family and special guest Sonic the Hedgehog.

The bottle tombola and toy tombola were a complete sell-out, held alongside glitter tattoos, a toy treasure hunt, tuck-shop, refreshments, splat the rat and name the teddy games.

The afternoon ended with a mega raffle of prizes, kindly donated by local businesses and individuals.

The event was sponsored by Bridport Rugby Club, Bridport Leisure Centre, Footeprints, Creative Solutions, West Dorset Leisure Holidays, Supastrikers, Heavers of Bridport, Rainbow Parties, Higos, Studiosix, Jo Deverell and Bredy Veterinary Centre.

A total of £1,918.87 was raised – beating last year's total – which will be used to support local and global courses over the coming months, as well as planning for future fundraising events

Previous recipients of funding have included Mosterton Pre School, the Cygnet Homebirth Team and the UNICEF Ukraine appeal.
