Beach-goers are urged to stay away from the cliffs at West Bay after a lady was hit on the head by falling debris.

She was walking along East Beach when debris fell from the cliffs and hit her.

West Bay and Lyme Regis coastguard teams along with the South Western Ambulance Service were called to attend at around 4.45pm on Monday.

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Coastguard said: "On arrival at the scene, immediate casualty care was given until the ambulance arrived. We wish her a speedy recovery.

"Please do not walk under the cliffs. They are very fragile after all the rain and storms. There is a likelihood that there will be further falls with no warning.

"For emergencies on the sea, cliff, river, mud, harbour and beach call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
