Latest Covid figures in Dorset: Confirmed cases decrease but more people in hospital

Confirmed coronavirus cases are falling across Dorset, but there are more than 100 people in hospital beds in the county.

Public Health Dorset reports there are 2,656 confirmed cases in the last seven days in the Dorset Council area, compared to 3,358 on February 11, and 2,966 in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council area, compared to 3,650 on February 11.

The seven-day case rate per 100,00 of the population is 699.3 in the Dorset Council area, compared to 884.2 on February 11, and 747.1 in the BCP Council area, compared to 919.4 on February 11.

There are currently 103 patients with Covid-19 in Dorset hospital beds compared to 92 on February 11.

A spokesman for Public Health Dorset said: "We have continued to see a fall in confirmed case rates in the Dorset Council and BCP Council areas over the past week.

"There have been changes to testing behaviour in recent weeks due to policy changes so we continue to use a range of data to understand and respond to the pandemic. There are now over 100 people in Dorset hospitals with Covid-19."
