Love Food - Love Bridport Market is a massive success

The successful Love Food - Love Bridport market was a brilliant substitute for the Bridport Food Festival and even gave a boost to Bridport market traders.
The event, organised by Bridport Local Food Group, was held at the Millennium Green on Saturday as Covid-19 meant the usual food and beer festival at Asker Meadows could not go ahead.
However, the popular tea tent, a number of food and drink stalls and live music were enjoyed by those who were there, as well as informative talks about food with Bridport Food Matters.
Bridport Round Table's beer festival, usually held alongside the food festival, could not go ahead but members provided cider and a range of beers. They did this alongside their 500-mile challenge in which they successfully rode 500 miles to raise money for Cycling Without Age Bridport and the skatepark redevelopment. Kathy Dare, chairman of Bridport Local Food Group, said: "We are delighted to say the 'Love Food – Love Bridport' was considered by all - visitors, traders and ourselves - a great success. It was fantastic in these difficult times to see so many happy faces enjoying a day out.
"There was a steady stream of visitors from when the market opened at 9am until rain ended proceeding at just before 5pm.
"The feedback received from all involved has been extremely complimentary, and we have also received incredibly positive comments from the regular Bridport street market traders and retailers in the town who enjoyed increased footfall as a result.
"I must take this opportunity once again to thank our generous sponsors, the local businesses that supported us by kindly donating produce and prizes, Palmers Brewery for their beer barrel seating and chairs and of course Bridport Town Council, without whose help and support this event just would not have happened."
