Memorial ceremony to be held in memory of D-Day hero based in Bridport

A memorial ceremony in memory of a D-Day hero stationed in Bridport will be held in June.
Staff Sgt. Ray Lambert, one of the last surviving soldiers from the first wave of the D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach died earlier this month aged 100-years-old.
Local historian Jane Frerentzi-Sheppard wrote a tribute to Ray Lambert, which can be read here.
He was stationed in Bridport from November 1943 to June 1944 and was a medic in the medical detachment based in the Literary and Scientific Institute in East Street.
A memorial ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 6 at 2pm at St Mary's Church, South Street.
