Rolling road closures are expected to affect North Allington for more than a month.

Closures will be in place along the B3162 from West Street to its junction with Hospital Lane, a distance of 650m, and will be closed from February 8, with works expected to be completed by March 12, but the closure order is valid for 18 months.

The closures will be on a rolling programme and the whole road will not be closed at one time.

Will Austin, town clerk at Bridport Town Council, has asked Dorset Council if signs can make it clear which part is closed at any given time.

  • The road will be closed from house number 65 to 73 from February 8 to 16
  • The road will be closed from house number 71 to 119 from February 17 to 24
  • The road will be closed from house number 135 to 166 from February 24 to March 3
  • The road will be closed from house number 166 to 170 from March 3 to 10

The closure is to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer rehabilitation works.

The alternative route, which will be signposted, will be via Melplash, Beaminster, Broadwindsor and Salway Ash.

Dorset Council has been contacted regarding access for residents.
