Motorcare is now back in business in the unit that was severely damage in a large fire last year.

A fire started in a unit at Dreadnought Trading Estate in July 2019 - which was owned by RKL Tools and Hardware and was destroyed - and spread to the vehicle repair shop's unit.

But now, owner of Motorcare, Jack Scadding, says the unit is back up and running and has even allowed him to expand the business.

"I have two units and I was using the unit next door," he said, "but we're all done now, it's completely finished and all brand new."

He had to get planning permission for the rebuild and work started in March.

Jack added: "The pandemic actually helped the building work. The builders came in and said they couldn't go into residential houses as no one wanted them in there, so they were able to work here.

"We were in a smaller unit so we have expanded now because when the fire happened, we only had three ramps and now we've got five.

"I am relieved to be back in, there were only two ramps in the other unit with four mechanics.

"Business has been really good this year, we've been really busy."

Motorcare is a family business, taken over by Jack in 2013 when he was 20-years-old, and he employs his family, with his dad, Adrian, also working there.

Jack offers loyalty cards and discount vouchers, as well as claiming to offer the cheapest MOT in town at £40.
