Peach Electrical is to close down after 35 years in Bridport

A long-standing, popular Bridport business is about to close its doors for good.

After over 35 years in the town, Glyn Peach of Peach Electrical has decided it's time to take a break and spend a bit more time on the golf course.

Glyn started his business after leaving the Royal Navy, initially mending washing machines in his garage, before moving to the South Street shop via St Michael's trading estate, and then to Folly Mill Lane.

"I'm grateful to all the lovely customers I've had over years" he said, "but I'm nearly 80 now and think I deserve a bit of rest!"

"My wonderful staff - Shirley, Kate, daughter Debbie and son Glyn Junior - have made running the business a pleasure and I'm sure they'll all find new and interesting things to do."

As for Glyn, he's looking forward to spending more time on the golf course and in the garden.

"I'd like to thank everyone for their support over the years - it's been a pleasure to serve the people of Bridport and I wish the next business to operate from this shop every success," he added.
