School leavers from Mountjoy School in Beaminster were given the red carpet treatment at their prom night.

The special educational needs school recently hosted a red carpet theme prom, where students could celebrate together for heading into adult life.

Headteacher Gill Howard said: "As always, we are filled with great happiness as well as sadness when we say farewell to school leavers.

"Some of our students have been with us for up to 15 years and this year we sent them off with a bang! We had an amazing prom with a huge turnout of leavers, their friends and classmates and staff.

"In true prom style, many arrived with great panache and all of them looked fab-u-lous! They were treated to a Hollywood-style reception and danced the night away with mocktails in hand.

"One pupil said it was 'the best night of my life!'"
