West Bay Distillery is asking for a premises licence

West Bay Distillery is asking for a premises licence to come into effect from April 1 this year.

The business, at The Customs House, says it would like to license an indoor seating area for 16 people with an outside area 7 by 7 metres.

Director Stephen Blakesley is asking for a noon to 11pm opening seven days a week. In the application he says that the company will be distilling its own gin and will also sell local cider and beer from the premises.

He says that staff will be given full safety training and will operate the 'challenge 25' procedures as well as have the premises covered by closed circuit tv.

The application adds that there will be no distillation with members of the public in the building.

Public comments on the application remain open until March 2.

Full details of the application can be seen on the Dorset Council website.
