The owner of a Netherbury cottage is asking planning permission to improve the building by the addition of a gym/games room and home-office.

Dorset Council is being asked to agree the building of a two storey extension at Britmead Cottage, Bridge Street, to convert a potting shed to a home-office and build a replacement double garage with a home gym-games room.

A heritage statement submitted to planners by an architect says the permission, on behalf of Mr Marcus Linfoot, also seeks to demolish a 1984 conservatory to make way for the two storey extension.

Mr Linfoot bought the cottage in January. It was once a pair of farm cottages which may date back to 1839 with the nearest listed building being the Cider House in Bridge Street.

Full details of the application can be seen on the Dorset Council website, ref 2022/03767, with public comments on the proposal open until July 29.
