Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault at a Bridport bar.

The incident, in which it was alleged that a man had assaulted an off-duty member of staff at The Pursuit of Hoppiness in West Street, was reported to police at around 8.45pm on Sunday, July 3.

The victim sustained a cut above his left eye.

Officers attended and a 52-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Mike Rumsby, of Dorset Police, said: "We believe that the bar was fairly busy as the time and there may be further witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken with police.

"I would urge them to please come forward to help our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220106427. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
