The Chapel in the Garden will host Creativity for Life from August 21 to 25 – a fun and inspiring course allowing all abilities to rediscover the joys of creativity.

Local exhibiting artist and creativity coach Mary Caddick will lead the course.

Suitable for artists, designers and complete novices, Mary will support participants to rediscover and rekindle the joy of creativity in a supportive and playful environment. They will learn to play again, take risks, have fun, release inhibitions and give the inner critic a holiday.

Mary, who has been developing and leading workshops in creative process and self-expression for more than 30 years, explains: "We are all creative, but we sometimes need a safe playground with wise, experienced guidance to restore our confidence to play.

"As we become more aware of and less judgemental about our creativity, we move away from habitual reactive patterns of thought and behaviour and begin to create more freely and authentically."

Throughout the course, there will be plenty of opportunities to get messy or tidy via a series of carefully crafted workshops, using a variety of supplied art materials. Course attendees will discover what they need to maintain feeling liberated, refreshed, creatively restored, unblocked and confident.

Skilled creatives can benefit from the beginner's fresh approach as much as the beginner benefits from the skill and experience of arts practitioners. All are encouraged to take their creativity in any direction: writing, performance, film, etc.

One of Mary's previous participants in July 2021 summarises: "Mary's course is a full-scale immersion in the possibilities of creativity. A stimulating journey through ideas, activities, and materials, the excitement did not let up for one minute and I came out buzzing… and a rather different person to when I went in."

Course sessions take place daily from Monday, August 21 to Friday, August 25, from 9.30am to 4pm at The Chapel in the Garden. The cost for the course is £350 including all materials and refreshments.
