The town was filled with a festive atmosphere for Bridport's Christmas Cheer-Up.

Christmas music was blasted across Bucky Doo Square and Santa waved from his sleigh by the large tree, market stalls and shops were decorated with Christmas decorations and residents went about their Christmas shopping.

Bridport's usual Christmas Cheer evening could not go ahead this year, so the team behind the event organised the cheer-up day on Saturday to spread some Christmas cheer.

Daryl Chambers, chairman of the Bridport Christmas Cheer committee, said: "The atmosphere throughout the town was fantastic. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the opportunity to shop in the town and getting into the festive spirit whilst adhering to the Covid rules in place.

"The feedback from both retailers and market traders has been very positive. We have received lots of glowing comments about the town's Christmas trees, which were given to retailers for free this year by the Christmas Cheer committee - 130 Christmas trees have been put up.

"Thank you to everyone who supported the day."
