Jazz in the Theatre is back at Bridport Arts Centre next month with some laid-back swing jazz and stomping tunes.

Skedaddle will be performing on Friday, May 6.

The band takes its inspiration from the New Orleans jazz bands of old, the exponents of Gypsy Jazz and the lively sounds of Klezmer and Eastern European music.

Skedaddle features singer and guitarist Myles de Gruyther, with Becky Doe playing the fiddle, Dave Holland at the piano, Joe Gass on double bass and Iwan Kuchenberg at the drums.

A spokesman said: "Skedaddle draw inspiration from a rich history of great tunes that have stood the test of time. A lot of their material is based on New Orleans jazz from the early twentieth century. Performers such as Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, Fats Waller, Bessie Smith and Louis Prima have all become legendary amongst jazz lovers, and the band delight in sharing their joyful music with audiences today. They also draw inspiration from Gypsy Jazz greats such as Django Reinhardt, and an eclectic mix of Klezmer and Balkan gypsy songs and dances."
