BRIDPORT Football Club has parted company with their 1st X1 management team following a spate of poor results.

Following last Saturday's 5-0 defeat against Hallen, club chairman Adrian Scadding discussed the team's recent performances with manager Jamie Manley.

Following this conversation about results not going as expected, Manley and his assistant Kevin Leigh, a former assistant manager at Yeovil Town, both decided to stand down with immediate effect.

The decision was announced yesterday (Monday) on the club's website by Mr Scadden who said: "I and everyone at Bridport FC wish them both the best of luck in whatever they do in the future."

With only one victory from their opening nine games of the season, the Bees were sitting in next to bottom place in the Toolstation Western League.

Manley, who enjoyed successful spells with Chard Town and Sherborne Town in the Western League, before joining the Bridport, was appointed Bees' manager in September 2019 alongside assistant Kevin Leigh and player-coach Gary McAuley.

The trio replaced former boss Rich Robson and his deputy Ryan Dovell after another run of poor results. Robson handed in his resignation on the grounds that he was unable to attract more experienced players.

This season has been a difficult one for Bridport with their Reserves also second from bottom in the Dorset Premier League, having lost all six of their opening games.

Bridport 3rd X1 are also experiencing a tough time in the Dorset League Division One, having picked up just two points in six games.
