Take a walk back in time this spring with Bridport Museum and meet the 'Rogue Ropemakers'.

Bridport Museum's historic guided walks are back by popular demand.

The volunteer guides will lead socially distanced walks around Bridport, sharing some of their fascinating insights into the town's unique past.

The walks will be running on most Tuesdays and Thursdays in April and May, weather permitting.

The walks follow different themes - Bridport Now and Then: Homes and Businesses Cheek by Jowl on Tuesdays, and Rope for Royalty: The Growth of Bridport's Wealth on Thursdays.

The walks leave from the museum at 10am, and last around one and a half hours. All are easy level walking and cost £5 per adult. Under 16s are free. There is no need to pre-book, but numbers are limited to six per walk (or two households) as per the current Covid-19 restrictions.

The museum's ropemakers are also going 'rogue' this spring again.

They will be twisting their twines outside from April 15 until the museum itself reopens on May 17.

Come along between 11.30am and 1pm on April 15, 22, 29 or May 6 and 13 outside the museum, and watch them twist their magic - you might even get a piece of rope to take away.

Museum director Emily Hicks said: "The Museum will reopen in May, but the meantime why not discover more of the hidden histories all around you? You can also download a heritage trail from our website to discover more in your own time."
