Wonderful community volunteers have been helping students at the Sir John Colfox Academy test for Covid.

Hundreds of students were tested at the start of term to check for any asymptomatic cases. Only a couple tested positive.

Around a dozen people gave up their time to help test students to stop the spread of Covid.

Students were also given more lateral flow tests to take home.

Adam Shelley, headteacher at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said: "We are very grateful to our wonderful community volunteers who have again generously given up their time to help with Covid testing. I would like to thank all our volunteers for their service to our school and the wider community.

"I would also like to thank our students who were brilliant during the testing process and our science technicians, Ms Laver and Mr Williams, who co-ordinated the process so smoothly, thanks also to Amanda Tuck, our HR manager, for helping to organise the volunteers.

"We know that testing is vital to keep our school community and our wider community safe. Thank you to all families for continuing to take voluntary lateral flow tests at home so we can stop the spread, keep everyone safe and limit disruption as much as possible."
