Walk of the month
Walk of the month

Every month we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.

This week's walk is a 2.3-mile walk around Swyre, taking around one hour.

There is parking along the road after you turn off the coast road by the Bull Inn. Just past the church and the first layby on the right, there is a footpath and stile on your right. Go over the stile and walk through the field to another stile before crossing the lane and over another stile.

Keep left to walk around the field and follow this path until you are behind some houses. The path will lead round to the left between the houses.

When you reach a road, turn right before turning left into the Old Timber Yard. Follow the path between agricultural buildings and through a small gate on the left.

Go through another small gate and round to the right before a left turn between two hedges. Go over the stile and straight through the field to another stile, over another and into another field.

Follow the path through the field and go over the stile on the left and follow the path to a gate on the left. At the road, turn left.

Continue along the road and at a crossroads turn right onto Hazel Lane. Keep following this road and it will bring you back to the start.

Where Hazel Lane meets Swyre Road, go round to the right into Swyre.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
