Walk of the Week: Amble around Abbotsbury

With summer coming in, we're bringing back the walk of the week - but taking it across Dorset.

This week's walk is in Abbotsbury

Park in the village car park and walk back out to the road to turn left. When the road sweeps to the right, take the left turn and walk up towards the church.

Follow the road and you will come to Abbey Farm Flowers - why not pop in and pick your own bunch? - then follow the road round to the right.

On your right there will be a small road signposted 'Swannery', go down there. Go past a stone stile on your right, following signs to 'Coast Path' and 'Swannery'. After some homes on your right, there will be a permissive path to the Subtropical Gardens on your right, go down there and follow the path through the field and into the next.

Keep following the path, go through a gate, and when you get to a stile, go over it and turn right, following the sign to 'Abbotsbury'.

When the path starts turning to the left, continue straight through a gate, signposted 'Village' and 'Chapel Hill'.

When the path comes to a T-junction, turn left.

When you come out onto the road, turn right and follow the road back to the car park.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
