Walk of the week in Broadmayne
Walk of the week in Broadmayne

This week's walk is a really lovely loop in Broadmayne.

It's just over two miles and takes just under an hour. It is of easy walking level.

Start at the church and, facing the road, turn left. Turn left to go down Charlmont Cross and cross to the right side of the road. just after a bus stop and just before some new houses, there is a footpath to your right. Go down there and after the stile, follow the path through the field to the left. There were cows in this field.

Go through a metal kissing gate and into the next field and continue following the path. Continue straight at the footpath sign.

Through a second kissing gate and into the next field, follow the path round to the left. There will be a footpath sign to your left, follow it into another field, going straight up. There will be a faint path to your right, follow it through the field, going around the hedge and to a metal gate. At the lane, turn right.

Go past the first footpath that comes up on your right and turn right at the second one. Go over the bridges and follow the path to the right.

When the path opens up and meets another, turn right. Stay on this lane until it comes to the main road and turn right to go back to the start. Take care walking alongside the road.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
