Walk of the week in Corscombe
Walk of the week in Corscombe

This week's walk is a 1.5mile loop around Corscombe, taking around 40 minutes. It is of easy level walking although the ground is uneven in some places.

Start at the Fox Inn - now sadly closed - and turn right to go past Court Close. Opposite Norwood Lane is a footpath on your left, although not well signposted. Go down there and where the track splits, continue straight and through the gate.

When the path opens up onto a field, keep left. Go through the trees and through a wooden gate and follow the path. When you come to a left turn, continue straight and just after, turn left at the next left turn.

Go through the metal gate and follow the path up through the field towards some houses. Leave the field through the metal gate and turn right.

Go past the first footpath on your right and when the path sweeps to the left, continue straight before going down the next footpath on your right. It's a little hidden and just before a metal gate.

Go over the stile and stay on the left to walk through the field.

Take care after the next stile as the ground is uneven and steep. Follow the path over the bridge and follow it through trees. When the path turns left and right, turn left. Go over the stile and go through the field, keeping left.

At the end of the field, go through the metal gate and turn right onto the road. keep following it and you will arrive back at the start.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
