Long Bredy

This week's walk is a lovely - yet steep - two-mile route in Long Bredy.

It takes around an hour and includes steep inclines and declines. We recommend using an OS Map or the app.

On the main road through Long Bredy, start at the grassy area where it forks with a 'church only' sign. Start to go up the lane towards the church but take the footpath on your left that looks like it goes through someone's garden. Then take the next footpath on your right, going through a gate.

Go through the next gate and into the next field and continue along the path. When it comes out onto a road, turn left. At the left junction, turn left, following signs to Little Bredy and Dorchester.

Ahead to the left you will see a footpath, go down there and then over a stile, following a faint path through the field. Keep to the left-hand side and go over another stile to go straight through the next field to a stile in the hedge by a pylon. Go into the next field and go slightly left to go through a blue gate.

Turn left to go up what looks like a long driveway. Continue straight when the road turns left and right to go up the hill. When the road goes round to the left, go through the gate straight on to continue up the hill.

At the top of the hill, go through the gate and turn left to go through the second gat eon your left.

Go through the next gate and join the lane on the right, continuing straight. When you get to a gate in front, go through the small gate on the left and down through the field.

When the path comes out onto a lane, continue straight and you will come out back at the start.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
