Walk of the week: Short stroll around Askerswell

We've brought back our walk of the week and this week it is a loop in Askerswell.

Due to poorly maintained and impassable public footpaths, it's quite a short one this week, and mostly on road. It's just under a mile and takes around half an hour.

Start at Askerswell church and as if you were coming out of its gate, turn left. Hidden on your left will be a footpath, go down there.

When the path comes to a road, turn left, and when you come to a crossroads, turn right.

Keep following the road up, past Medway lane on your right, until you come to a gate and footpath sign on your left.

Go over the stile and walk through the field, sticking to the left-hand side of the field. At the bottom there will be a stile. Go over it and follow the path ahead of you. Take care on the stiles, they are both a little wobbly.

When you come to the road, turn left. Back at the crossroads, turn right, and when the road reaches a junction, turn left. This road will bring you back to the start.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
