A micro-bar and shop at West Bay has been given retrospective planning permission.

The George Street premises, which is owned by Dorset Council, is only capable of hosting about a dozen people, doubling as a shop and off-licence.

Its ground floor area measures just 19 by 16 feet and has previously been used as a kitchen studio.

Dorset councillors heard that the bar had been in use since February 2021, without complaints, and was considered to be an acceptable use in planning terms, bringing an overall benefit to the area, open from 12non to 11pm most days.

The Area Planning Committee unanimously agreed the change of use.
