The Watch House Café in West Bay showed off the skills of its talented team and the best of local produce at its chef's showcase event last week.

Guests tucked into a special three-course menu and enjoyed live music at the beachside restaurant, which has previously been named among the top 20 of the UK's best seaside restaurants, cafes and shacks by The Guardian.

Billed as "the best from the best", the menu put the highest quality local produce centre stage in creative dishes with European influences, with tasty choices including Fresh classic Coquille St Jacques with Lyme Bay scallops, beef Wellington with dauphinoise potatoes, and a chocolate delice with banana ice cream, toasted almonds and toffee popcorn.

The Watch House recently appointed new head chef Colin, who has been cooking for 16 years, starting out on fishing boats, where he would prep the 'catch of the day' for the fishermen.

He then took up a career with the Royal Navy, based in Portsmouth, and while honing his kitchen skills he cooked for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, offering her a menu of beef Wellington, crab, avocado and salsa terrine and a trio of orange desserts.

After leaving the Navy, Colin worked around the coast in various kitchens and restaurants, putting his own spin on the dishes he created.

Colin and his team have launched a modern, fresh menu at The Watch House, with 'Mediterranean beach vibes'.

Making the most of seasonal, local produce, the menu features plenty of seafood dishes with a tasty twist, and a creative selection fo wood-fired pizzas.

The Watch House Cafe is now hoping to hold further chef's showcase events in the future so keep an eye on its website and social media.
