West Dorset Leisure Holidays has taken over the SPAR shop in Chideock.

A spokesman for West Dorset Leisure Holidays said: "After successfully converting our shops at Highlands End Holiday Park and Golden Cap Holiday Park to the SPAR brand last year, we were offered the opportunity to purchase the local village SPAR and post office, which serves the local community and visitors of Chideock.

"With the village store joining our business, our team can work variable hours throughout the year and, equally importantly, we can continue the service provided by Michael for many years, for the community, our caravan owners, and the holiday visitors.

"With the support of the post office and SPAR teams, we have lots to learn, and we look forward to serving existing and new customers."

The team will be able to rotate stock to reduce food wastage and staff will be able to work more flexibly to provide consistent working hours year-round.

All three stores - Eype, Seatown and Chideock - are open daily, year-round to both locals and holidaymakers.
