West Dorset MP Chris Loder voted against extending free school meals through the Christmas holidays.

The motion was voted on in the House of Commons with five rebel Conservative MPs voting in favour of the motion – which gained 261 votes – but 322 were against it.

This is despite pressure from footballer Marcus Rashford and a u-turn on a similar subject in the summer.

Chris Loder has been contacted for comment.

Companies and businesses, such as M&S café, are offering free children's meals during half term, with others offering free meals for children who would usually receive a free school meal with no other purchase necessary.

Are any cafes, restaurants or eateries in Bridport and the surrounding areas looking to do a similar scheme? Let us know by emailing [email protected] or call 07984 605128.
