MW Events, the company behind the Bridport Business Awards, has announced the second stage of its campaign to support and promote local businesses throughout West Dorset.

The West Dorset Gold Awards will comprise of the category winners from the Jurassic 2022, Dorchester 2023, Weymouth 2023 and Bridport 2023 Business Awards.

The winners will automatically be entered and then judged against their fellow category winners across the West Dorset area.

Bridport will play host to the 2023 West Dorset Gold Awards, with a lunchtime ceremony to be held on Thursday, Septemeber 7 at Bridport Town Hall.

Said Nigel Reeve of the awards organisers MW Events: "We chose Bridport as the concept of running local business awards started in Bridport with the first local business awards back in 2020. The idea was successful and has now grown to 18 local awards across Dorset.

"We were tired of the constant national news media coverage that just seemed to look for the bad news in every story. We wanted to do something to promote the range and quality of local businesses and Bridport was the start of that.

"We believe that local business are the backbone of the local economy. They create employment, in innovate, they care about their customers and they adapt to fit what their customesr want.

"These awards are not glitzy evening events. They are held at lunchtime. They are grass roots business awards where the winners are the stars, not the event.
