Police appeal after report of group with machetes in Bridport

The report caused a large police response in the town yesterday afternoon

Police are appealing for information after a group of people in Bridport were reported to have machetes in the Skilling area yesterday (Thursday).

Dorset Police were called at 2.15pm to a report of a group of three men and a woman in possession of two machetes on Alexandra Road. There were no reports of any threats made to members of the public.

'High pollution due to congestion - not speed limit': Chideock Parish Council responds to permanent 30mph speed limit

Chideock Parish Council is calling on Highways England and Dorset Council to realise the main reason for high pollution levels in the village is due to congestion and won't be achieved by making the trial 30mph limit permanent.

Highways England recently announced that the 30mph limit on Chideock Hill to the west of the village would be here to stay after an 18-month trial "identified a small reduction in nitrogen dioxide (N02) levels".
