More than 3,000 Dorset Council and care home staff will have been vaccinated locally against Covid by the end of this week.

Adult social care brief holder Cllr Laura Miller said that by the end of the week, working with Dorset County Hospital, it is estimated that around 3,200 staff and associated care workers will have been vaccinated.

There are plans to build eight affordable homes at The Coal Yard

Bridport Town Council has given its support to the development of eight affordable homes in the town centre, but wants them to be more energy efficient.

The application for the homes at The Coal Yard in Rope Walks was discussed by the council's planning committee and they asked Paul Hoffman, of CG Fry - which is building the homes in partnership with Hastoe housing association - if solar panels could be added.

West Dorset MP Chris Loder praised Bridport's St Mary's Primary School for going above and beyond

West Dorset MP Chris Loder has praised St Mary's Primary School in Bridport for going "above and beyond" during the pandemic, as he called for vaccinations for teachers to be given higher priority.

Speaking in the House of Commons yesterday (Tuesday), Mr Loder addressed Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, asking him to place vaccinations for teaching staff higher on the agenda, following the efforts they had made to continue the education of young people in challenging circumstances.

Hi! I'm Eddie, I'm 15 years old, and I'm writing for Bridport Nub News. Why? Because we're starting a monthly column to raise awareness about Bridport being a Rights Respecting Town, and I wanted to start by introducing myself and explaining a bit more about what this 'Rights Respecting' stuff actually means.

Firstly, a bit about me. I'm in year 11 at Colfox (so I would be taking my GCSE exams if they were going ahead), and I'm interested in all sorts of different things - such as public speaking, writing, drama, computer coding. I particularly like helping people and organising different events, projects and campaigns. Currently, I'm a member of the Unicef UK Youth Advisory Board, and we do lots of projects to raise awareness of children's rights.
