A Grade II listed home near the sea and full of character is on the market.

Symonds and Sampson is offering the detached, four-bed period property in West Bay Road with a guide price of £900,000.

Built in 1710, it was commissioned by an order of monks and expanded in the 1830s by Samuel Gundry Jnr of the Gundry rope making family.

Although Grade II listed, much of the fabric of the house has been renewed. Of particular note are a new state of the art wi-fi system providing full coverage inside and in the grounds, and an infra-red satellite extender allowing access to satellite coverage in the outside area. There are also five CCTV cameras allowing complete coverage of the outside.

The accommodation is arranged over three levels, with the living areas on both the lower and middle floors and sleeping accommodation on the top floor.

On the lower floor you will find the kitchen, breakfast room, snug, utility room, shower room, laundry room and integral garage. The kitchen has a range of integrated appliances, including a dishwasher, fridge freezer and an electric Classic 90 Rangemaster cooker. O one side is the large walk in larder. The breakfast room has a bar to one side and double doors leading to the lower terrace for access to the jacuzzi and an alfresco dining area.

Down the hallway is the shower room, laundry and more storage areas leading to the integral garage.

On the middle floor you will find the main entrance with newly rebuilt wooden porch, four reception rooms, three of which have a shared fireplace which dates back to the original build of 1710. The fireplace has recently been modified with the installation of a 360-degree revolving wood burner.

There is a large sitting room, library and formal dining area, all of which can be services by the butler's pantry.

At the far end you will find the other large reception room currently used as a games room.

On the upper floor there is a self-contained principal suite with its own hallway area, large bedroom and jacuzzi bath. There are a further three good sized bedrooms and family bathroom.

For all enquiries and to arrange a viewing, contact Symonds and Sampson on 01308 422092.
