This week, we are showcasing Flood House, which is on the market with Stags estate agents.
Flood House, which is believed to have been named for a Mr Flood who established the property and the lane on which it stands, is a charming and characterful, thatched period home. The Grade II property is understood to date back to the 1690s, when it was built by Mr Flood as a large farmhouse together with the adjoining property which was once a barn.
Internally, the home is beautifully presented throughout with a fresh, neutral scheme of decoration chosen to complement the many historic features. Many of the rooms exhibit exposed beams, window seats and stripped pine cottage doors, giving an overall atmosphere of period charm. Alongside there are several other features, including window shutters and large beamed former fireplaces, particularly in the kitchen where there is also a feature bread oven.
The accommodation is arranged over three floors. On the ground floor there is a living room with a feature fire place complete with gas flame-effect stove and a kitchen/dining room with a 3-oven Aga and cottage style fitted units. There is also the family bathroom on the ground floor.
From the sitting room a wide wooden staircase rises to the first floor landing which gives access to two of the double bedrooms, the larger of which has an en-suite. Also on this floor there is a separate WC.
A further staircase rises from the landing to the second floor which is primarily arranged as a large bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, exposed roof timbers and floorboards with windows to both the front and rear.
Flood House enjoys south-facing gardens and a gravelled driveway providing off-road parking for several vehicles.
