As Bridport remembers all those who lost their lives in war, plans have been put in place for this year's Remembrance Sunday parade and service.
Last year's event was scaled down due to the coronavirus pandemic and there was not a parade through the town.
The event, organised by Bridport Town Council, parade commander Brigadier John Dean, Rev Pete Stone of Bridport Team Ministry and a range of forces organisations, will start with a parade through the town centre by representatives and veterans of HM Armed Forces and local groups and organisations.
Accompanied by the Wessex Military Band, the parade will start in East Street at 10.40am, following an inspection by Bridport mayor, councillor Ian Bark.
The mayor will lead the parade down South Street before laying a wreath at the war memorial as part of the ceremony.
The service of remembrance will be held outside St Mary's Church to cater for the number of people expected to attend whilst limiting the risk of Covid-19 transmission.
It is anticipated that a significant number will want to attend and people are encouraged to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing. People should not attend if they have any Covid symptoms.
Following feedback from local groups, the parade will not return up South Street after the service as has happened in previous years. This in recognition of the fact that some participants find this second parade increasingly challenging.
These arrangements are based on the current Covid situation. Should this change, the event may be adapted.
Town centre road closures will be in place for the parade from 10.30am to 1pm. Residents and visitors to the town centre are asked not to park in the vicinity of St Mary's Church after 8am on the morning of November 14.
