Brighten up the dark winter evenings with a visit to see the beautiful Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens lit up.

The gardens' ILLUMINATE event returns this month and following the success of last year's event, Dorchester-based lighting specialists OT Event Technicians are again taking over the gardens, illuminating the exotic trees and plants and making the Wonderland Sculpture Trail even more magical.

Ollie Titterington of OT Event Technicians said: "We are extremely pleased to be invited back again this year to bring our new route to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens.

"It's a beautiful setting and the subtropical gardens form a perfect backdrop, enabling us to show off our lighting skills to their full potential, incorporating the gardens' natural beauty."

From November 26 to December 23, visitors will follow a route that winds through the gardens where multi-coloured LED floodlights bathe the surroundings in a rainbow of colour.

Martin Alderman, Abbotsbury Tourism general manager, said: "We are delighted that Ollie and the team at OT Event Technicians are back with ILLUMINATE this year.

"Last year's event proved enormously popular and it's a wonderful evening for all the family to enjoy in the run-up to Christmas."

The gardens' café will be open every evening and the shop will also be fully stocked with Christmas gifts.

The event will run from 4.30pm or 5pm to 8pm, with last entries between 7pm and 7.15pm.

Online booking is essential and tickets - £9.50 for adults and £7.50 for children over five - at abbotsburytickets.co.uk
