More than 150 poppies have been 'planted' in Bridport town centre to remember those locally who lost their lives at war.

Bridport Heritage Forum has a small, plot at Mountfield, dedicated to the memory of the 151 Bridport casualties of the Great War.

An original wildflower meadow was sited at Jellyfields, a local nature reserve, but a smaller plot has been developed in the centre of the town, and this is the first year of planting.

The profusion of summer wildflowers is over, and now, the forum has placed 151 poppies in the garden - each one bearing the name of one of the local men and boys lost in the Great War.

A larger poppy commemorates all those, both military and civilian, who lost their lives during the conflicts of the last century and the forum would like to invite anyone who has lost relations in those wars, to place their own poppies and stones in the garden.

We will remember them.
