Bridport and the rest of Dorset remains in Tier Two, the high alert level, despite a reduction in reported coronavirus cases.

Earlier this week, West Dorset MP Chris Loder urged Government to put the county in to Tier 1, but during the Government's tier announcement today (Thursday), Dorset will stay in Tier 2, with only Herefordshire being moved from Tier 2 to Tier 1.

The same restrictions are in place. Here's a reminder of what they are:

Residents should not mix with other households indoors, apart from support bubbles and meet with a maximum of six people outdoors.

Bars, pubs and restaurants offering food will be open but will be offering table service only and can only sell alcohol with a substantial meal. Last orders are at 10pm with venues having to shut at 11pm.

All shops can open, as well as theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centre and accommodation, such as hotels. Hairdressers, salons and barbers will also be able to welcome back customers.

Large events, such as sports, live performances and business meetings, are limited to 50 per cent capacity or 2,000 outdoors - whichever is less - and 50 per cent capacity or 1,000 indoors - also, whichever is less.

Exercise classes and organised adult sport can take place outdoors but cannot take place indoors if there is any interaction between people from different households. Organised activities for elite athletes, under 18s and disabled people can continue.

Everyone who can work from home should do so.

Early years education, schools, colleges and universities will remain open with childcare bubbles also allowed.

Residents can see their elderly relatives in care homes through Covid-secure arrangements, such as screens, visiting pods and window visits. It is outdoor and airtight visits only until the rollout of rapid testing, which will enable indoor visits including contact.

Residents should reduce the number of journeys they make, walk or cycle if possible and avoid busy times and routes on public transport. Avoid car sharing with those outside your household or support bubble. Avoid travelling into a Tier Three area other than where necessary as for work or education.

Weddings, civil partnerships, wedding receptions and wakes can have up to 15 guests and funerals can have up to 30. Places of worship will also be open but residents cannot interact outside of their household or bubble.

Overnight stays are permitted with their household or support bubble.

Despite a rise in cases across the country, restrictions will be relaxed for five days over Christmas from December 23 to 27. However, the Prime Minister is urging families to have a "merry little Christmas", that three households making a bubble is "a maximum not a target" and to not stay overnight.
