A campaign to get residents out and looking after the street where they live has launched.
Bridport mayor, councillor Ian Bark is encouraging residents to become Litter Free Champions and to have one for every street in the town.
Cllr Bark and his wife have been regularly litter picking in the street where they live and he wants others to join him.
He said that there are around 137 streets in Bridport town and with a population of more than 7,000 "raising an army of Bridport Litter Free Champions should be easily achievable".
Cllr Ian Bark said: "It's easy to blame shops that sell fast food sandwiches and snacks and all our visitors for the litter, but the reality is throughout lockdown the litter problem did not go away so we as a community all have to accept responsibility for litter and this is your opportunity to do something positive about it."
To become a Litter Free Champion, email [email protected] with your contact details to find out more.
A mass litter pick is planned to take place on Sunday, May 30. From Street to Sea will cover the streets, river and beach with Litter Free Champions being joined by kayakers, paddleboarders and West Bay beach clean volunteers to pick up as much rubbish as they can.
