Scarecrow Festival of fairy tales makes a return as creations begin to pop up

By Lottie Welch 20th May 2021

The Loders and Uploders Scarecrow Festival is back this week with an enchanting theme.

From Sunday, May 23 to Sunday, June 6, creative scarecrows will be popping up across the two villages.

Maps will be available on the Loders and Uploders Facebook page and on the village noticeboards to photograph and find your way around. There will be no maps or voting forms available from the phone boxes this year.

Jo Saker, an organiser of the Loders and Uploders Scarecrow Festival, said: "This year the theme is fairy tales, a chance to add some fairy dust to gardens and the villages.

"It will be non-competitive as we are unable to have a prize giving and entrance fees will go to NHS Charities Together.

"A big 'thank you' to everybody who has helped with the scarecrow show, especially those who have made some amazing scarecrow this year, the turnout has been fantastic. Hopefully the fairy tale scarecrows are all in place and the show is well and truly on the road.

"The Uploders Chapel is doing refreshments over the bank holiday weekend and kindly making the toilet available to anyone who might need it, which is great news.

"Look out for the 'Little Mermaids' and the 'Pied Piper' to name but a few.

"If you enjoy the show and would like to make a donation to NHS Charities Together, please go to nhscharitiestogether.co.uk."
