Walk of the week: Walditch with stunning views of West Bay and Bridport

Every week we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first every Friday and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.
Our second walk of the week is around Walditch, taking in stunning views of the town and West Bay. The walk had some steep inclines and declines and was just over two and a half miles, taking around an hour and 10 minutes.
Start on Lower Walditch Lane at the junction with Howard Road. Go past the junction with it on your left and follow the road to Walditch.
At the T-junction, turn left and walk along the road until you come to a footpath on your right, signposted 'Shipton Gorge' and walk up the footpath.
Keep going up and straight for as far as possible until a hedgerow and trees stops you. Turn right to walk along the top of the field to a gate. Go through the gate and continue straight across the field, or turn left and walk around the edge of the field to see views of West Bay, following the field round to where the paths meet and you turn left into another field. Continue straight through this field.
If it's clear, you will some fantastic views of the town and Colmer's Hill to the right, West Bay to the left and Thorncombe Beacon straight ahead.
Keep following this path and it will take round to the left to a stile and down into a steep field behind houses on Crock Lane. Follow the path down the hill and over another stile, walking down into Crock Lane.
Turn right at Crock Lane and walk past some beautiful rainbows and doves in hedges and on walls. Follow the road round to the left but take the road on the right back to Lower Walditch Lane.
Why not do the short loop around Jellyfields Nature Reserve while you're here?
This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.
