Spurred on by the murder of Sarah Everard and events at a vigil in her memory in London, one Bridport resident wanted to make a stand.
Jacqui Waterfall held her own silent vigil in Bucky Doo Square, holding a sign that said, 'freedom for women'.
Sarah Everard was murdered while walking home in London earlier this month. Her remains were found in Kent and a police officer has been charged with her murder.
She said: "I was quite affected by the fact it was a policeman I don't know why, it is still terrible, then they were having a vigil and it got out of hand, which really upset me.
"Because of that, I had this fire in my belly and I thought 'I can't let this go'. I really felt as though I had to make a mark, to stand up for woman and to stand up for Sarah Everard because I have had a lot of things happen to me through my life with men.
"All my life I have been abused, I have been shouted down, I have been scared and pushed around by men and I will not have it anymore. The age I am now I am not having it anymore.
"There are a lot of good men - this is not to denounce men - but this is to say that it is time for equality.
"I feel as though women should feel free. Not all men are the same, but we should be equal and we're not."
Jacqui stood for an hour in Bucky Doo Square on Monday, sharing her message with passers-by.
