An outbuilding used as a holiday home at Burton Bradstock is to be converted to an independent home with double garage.

Dorset Council has approved the application for the two-storey building known as The Garret, within the grounds of Overland in Shipton Lane. The home has been in holiday use since 2005.

The application brought one objection from a neighbour who claimed that the garage would create noise and pollution. The parish council did not object to the application but commented that it was another example of what it sees as 'creeping development' in the village.

Another village application approved is for 24A Beach Road to extend the property and add external cladding.

The proposal includes enlarging a rear dormer, adding extensions to the front, rear and side and changing doors and windows. The property will be then clad in timber/cedral weatherboards. The application also includes the addition of an air source heat pump.
