Award-winning Dorset author Nigel Clarke will give a talk on The Shipwrecks of Lyme Bay in aid of West Bay Discovery Centre.

The talk will be held at The Salt House in West Bay on Wednesday, January 11 at 2.30pm.

Mr Clarke, who has appeared on both the BBC and ITV talking about the Jurassic Coast, published 'A Shipwreck Guide to Dorset and South Devon'.

He said: "The book took me two years of research and numerous letters and telephone conversations to some of the leading local maritime academics.

"Local skippers and divers gave me access to their logs and records, without their help this book could not have been published.

"The coast of Dorset and South Devon has over 350 wrecks, one of the greatest densities of shipwrecks in Europe. Each wreck has a story and is now a home to all sorts of marine creatures."

Mr Clarke will be signing copies of his book at the talk.

Tickets for the talk cost £5 and are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre.

Future talks at The Salt House in aid of West Bay Discovery Centre include A Cruise Along the Jurassic Coast - an illustrated talk by Steve Belasco - on Thursday, February 23, and Voices from a Dorset Fishing Community by Sarah Acton on Wednesday, March 22.
