The team behind the Bridport Christmas Hampers and Stockings would like to say a big 'thank you' to the Bridport community.

The generosity of residents, businesses and groups enabled them to provide a Christmas dinner and stockings to families in Bridport. They teamed up Bridport Round Table and the two groups were able to give almost 200 hampers to families.

Bridport Christmas Hampers and Stockings is a Bridport Team Ministry initiative which grew from the food bank Cupboard Love based in St Mary's Church.

Mish Bartlett said: "The effects of the virus on our community have meant a very difficult year for many and resulted in a demand for 77 hampers and 81 stockings, compared to the 45 hampers and 68 stockings we provided last year.

"The virus also prevented us from holding our regular fundraising quiz, so more than ever we were dependent on the generosity of the Bridport community - and you rose to the challenge!

"An amazing number of individual donations were made, including some vis the Just giving page, along with those from Bridport Round Table, Bridport Ladies Circle, Morisons and Waitrose, plus the support from local businesses, R. J. Balson & Son and Washingpool Farm Shop.

"Packing the hampers was also very different because of the virus restrictions and thanks must go to the much-reduced team of people who helped.

"Last but not least, many thanks must go to the Round Table and Groves, plus another small team of helpers who delivered the hampers."
