Bridport's Artisan Market has come to an end after five years.

The showcase of local arts, crafts and produce was held at Bridport Arts Centre before the coronavirus pandemic, but announced it could not be held at the venue in January last year due to other plans for the theatre and forecourt.

Now, organisers Neil Barnes and Julie Penney have announced it will not return when lockdown restrictions are lifted.

They said: "It is tinged with a bit of sadness but also a fair amount of relief that we have decided to retire the Bridport Artisan Market forthwith.

"It's been a good run over the past five years, we've met some very creative and lovely people but as they say all good things must come to an end.

"We wish you all a safe, healthy and prosperous future and hope to bump into you at any future craft fairs or markets."

Following the announcement it wouldn't be held at Bridport Arts Centre, other venues were looked at but none were suitable and felt it would be "a backstep and not as popular" as the arts centre.

It became a regular on the art and craft market circuit for many artisans and some 'pop-up' events were able to be held in between restrictions last year.
