The Bridec company in West Bay Road, Bridport, has requested 'prior approval' to install 600 solar panels on its factory roof.

Only two documents are available to the public on the Dorset Council website – a drawing of the site and an aerial picture, which shows the panels in place across the majority of the roof space of the L-shaped building.

The council website said date for the closure of public comments was March 29, although it also reported that neighbours, ward councillors and the town council were only notified of the proposed development on March 28.

A council planning officer will decide if the development can go ahead with the information available, without the need to submit a full, detailed, planning application.

Approval for solar panels at Burton Bradstock home

Fourteen solar panels have been approved for the garden of a house at Burton Bradstock.

Dorset Council has agreed the application for the panels, in two rows, at the rear of a side garden at Gages Orchard, Shadrach.

The planning application includes the removal of a small Scots Pine tree and space for a convertor and underground connection to the house. Dorset Council's tree officer raised no objection to the removal of the tree.

The application says that the panels will be hidden by a 1.8m high solid wooded boundary fence to the north of existing raised vegetable beds close to the adjoining property, The Blackthorns, to the north east.

The house roof is already fitted with thermal panels generating hot water for the property.
