A car has been crushed by a fallen tree after Storm Eunice swept the county with extremely strong winds.

Lower Walditch Lane has been closed after a large tree fell down during the storm and blocked the road. And unfortunately, it has also destroyed a car.

Efforts to remove most the tree were made today but the road remains closed as some branches still remain. Motorists can get round by using Manor Fields.

A rare red weather warning was issued by the Met Office today (Friday) for parts of Dorset, with flying debris likely to cause a danger to life. West Dorset has been under an amber warning.

Winds were predicted to reach 100mph and fallen trees blocked many roads across the area, with the A35, A37 and A3066 just some of those affected.

Residents were urged not to go out unless absolutely necessary.

The winds have eased but people are still urged to be vigilant as storm conditions are predicted to continue over the weekend.
