There has been a new cliff fall at West Bay.

It is understood that a large part of the cliff along East Beach fell this morning at around 7.40am. It has blocked access along the beach.

Coastguards were on the scene this morning and cordons are likely to be put in place.

A spokesman for Dorset Council said: "There has been a rockfall at East Cliff Beach, West Bay. Our rangers are on the scene and are assessing. Whilst the footpath remains unaffected, please stay away as there could be further rockfall. We will continue to monitor the area over the next week."

Please avoid the area and never climb on a cliff fall.

The cliff fall follows some wet weather, which saw many parts of West Dorset flooded. This can make cliffs very unstable.

There has been a number of cliff falls along the coast since November last year.

There was a one at Burton Bradstock in November last year, followed by a large one between Eype and West Bay in December, one on East Beach earlier this year, two between Seatown and Eype in April and another near the same area in August.

More on this as we have it.
