A fashion show hosted by long-established Bridport clothing store Smith and Smith raised more than £1,300 for the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust at Dorset County Hospital.

The event was held last week in Bridport Town Hall, starting with a talk on the work of the charity at Dorset Councty Hospital in Dorchester, with local models then showing off Smith and Smith's latest spring and summer collections in women's and men's wear.

Among those to strut their stuff on the catwalk was the Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Ian Bark, who stepped in at the last minute when another model fell ill.

A wide variety of clothing was included, with formal and casual wear, and an informative commentary was given by Sue England, who provided many interesting facts on the styles, fabrics and production.

Brands on show and available in store now included Barbour, Gurteen, Brooke Tavener, Olymp, Bruhl, Sugarhill, Adini, Nomads, Lily and Me, Robell and Oriantique.

Smith and Smith is a long-established firm of Bridport, which first opened in 1884 and has been in the same family since the 1950s.

Over its 139-year history, it has survived two world wars, a couple of pandemics, 21 Prime Ministers and is now on its seventh sovereign.

The shop continues to provide excellent customer service with contemporary and classic clothing and a strong focus on ethical and sustainably sourced clothing.
